Truckin' Along

Hellooo~

Not much to report this week, so I'll keep it short. I had my Japan interview yesterday finally. I think it went mostly well, though I didn't do great at the Japanese section, which I guess I anticipated. Right now, I'm just trying really hard not to think about it, since JET and Fulbright notifications are a long ways away.

Drop distractions below, so that I can fill my time with those instead. Yesterday I rewatched the classic Disney film Cow Belles staring Aly and AJ Michaka. Hate to say it, but it did not hold up, would not recommend...I did rewatch Lilo and Stitch recently though and that movie fills me with love and light and joy. What is your favorite DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie)? I will watch them and then report back later.

Also, do you guys think we should volunteer for the Paris Olympics? All I have to do is become fluent in French before then, but that's easy. I've been watching some Olympic events here and there, I always think they're fun :') The other day I watched luge with my family (the one where you lie down flat and sled down a track made of ice). That sport is crazy. Apparently the only rule is that you have to keep touching your sled -- I saw a TikTok where this girl flipped fully upside down but kept going so she didn't lose, which can be really dangerous because luge-ers reach speeds of 80 - 90 mph. I think they intervened and stopped her eventually. Anyway, that sport's crazy. I would kind of want to do it if I were in the Olympics though. What sport would you guys do??

My recommendation of the week this week is kind of sad, so proceed with caution, but I listened to this episode of the podcast The Nod called "Saving Grace." It's about this woman who, when she was a child, created her life in the Sims. After her grandmother who she was close with passed away, she created a version of her grandmother in the Sims so that she could keep hanging out with her. I thought it was a really touching and sweet reflection on her relationship with her grandmother and grief.

@Naoni: originally she had frozen her grandmother's aging, so that she wouldn't age in the sims. But eventually she realized she needed to grieve her grandmother to move on (bc she never really got to say goodbye to her in real life bc her mom wasn't close with her grandmother), so she turned on aging and allowed her to pass away. she made sure that all her kids in the sims got to say goodbye to her in the game, it was really sweet :')

Paris Olympics will be the summer in 2024!!

That podcast sounds so sad, but relatable... I feel like I can understand projecting onto other things lol, must've been hard to leave the game T_T...and I don't think I really have any DCOM that I've watched (Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network was where it was at :p)

I am sure you did well, I have faith that you got in :))) As for Disney originals, my favs that I can think off the top of my head rn, are Mulan, Tangled, and Big Hero 6 (heavy on Big Hero). And I didn’t know the Olympics are gonna be in Paris, is it the 2024 Olympics? And will it be summer or winter? But my fav Olympic sports is swimming, figure skating, volleyball, and gymnastics. And that podcast sounds endearing but sad :(( does she still have the sim of her grandmother?
