Hellooo again friends, from the other side -- 2022. Okay, I guess it's not really the other side. With omicron going on a worldwide tour, life isn't really all that different than it was back when we stopped writing back in 2020. At the same time, things are really different.
Since I last wrote, we all graduated college, some of us ended up in new cities in new countries, we got new jobs, all my hair grew back, and two whole Spotify Wrappeds came out :0 !
There's way too much to catch up on than I could reasonably include here. I just finished my thesis this week though, so I am (nearly...) officially free from the clutches of Sm*th College! I guess I should do some reflecting about that....but honestly thinking about it makes me kind of tired. My first ever blog post on here was about me and Caitlin working Reunion after our sophomore year, and I talked in it a bit about how whenever I have to say goodbyes, it never really feels real until a while later. I guess I'm still waiting for it to feel real, and then maybe I'll have some more thoughts. For now, I am very grateful to be done with school ! I am going to have a long sleep.
And it's a new year! Post your resolutions below xoxo My main resolution this year is to get good at cooking, or at least comfortable. I feel like I can follow a recipe, and I like cooking, but I'm not really that good at thinking up ideas for food to make or buy when I go shopping. I feel like that's a pretty big adult skill I'm lacking, and I'd like to be able to make food I like for myself. So far, Kyra and I have been coming up with recipes we want to make in the new year (post your fave foods below if you have a recipe we can learn how to make).
It's only been a couple days, and so far we made cacio e pepe (literally "cheese and pepper," it's just spaghetti but it was yummy and will be a good easy meal for when we're lazy) and this simple "bougiefied instant ramen" recipe with bacon and cheese we saw on TikTok. We've also been trying to get better at making scallion pancakes.
Besides that, I don't have any big resolutions. I just want to rest and take things easy this year, take some time to figure out what I want to do next. I also want to get really good at bowling (I worked on my skills a bit last year) but that's a conversation for another day.
Anywayss, getting started is always the hardest part, but here we are again, getting started!! Many more conversations to be had in the coming weeks, so I figure why rush? Here's a short little post. I've been doing well, and I hope you all are too. I can't wait to hear what's up with you guys!! If you need a prompt, here are some -- how were your holidays? What are your new years resolutions or why do you not have one? What is something you think you should have learned how to do by now but you haven't?* Who's your crush ahaha
*my thing I didn't know how to do was put your hair in one of those towel wraps on the top of your head when you get out of the shower, but Kyra taught me so now I guess I know everything that an adult should know (except how to cook well, but we're working on it...)
Also, if you guys want to see a picture of what I would look like as a woman comment below (it might be frightening tho fair warning)
helllooooo welcome back, this thing is on i think! I can relate to the stopping listening to music thing last year, well I still did but significantly less than other years :/ but it's ok, it comes and goes. One of my goals coming to France was also to learn to cook! I'm still not that good and don't know a lot of things but I can say I'm more confident and can make things that are simple but I like (lots of potato and sweet potato pan mixes haha). One thing I've yet to brave is meat though.... so we'll see boout that one. But I have faith in you! also I used to do that hair towel wrap…
Bowling seems so random but i support it :))
Lol i wanna see what you look like as a woman!! Anyway, some of my resolutions is to be more fit through dance and yoga, to write more—be it blogging, journaling my feelings, or just frivolous nothings, to read more (and not let it be something necessarily “productive”), and to get back to studying Japanese and more actively learning French again! But yeah, your pasta doesn’t look like much but that’s how you know it’s good you know? Sometimes the less aesthetic looking foods are the best, for example whenever I take a pic of my dad’s oxtails it always just looks like dog food but it is really delicious!
