I Made a Huge Mistake

Hello friends. I was shocked and upset when I woke up on the morning of 8/20 and thought to myself: "Oh s*** is it Tuesday?" I had discovered, much to my disappointment, that even though I managed to remember to post every week when I was in Japan, my first Monday back, I had completely forgotten.

I cannot blame this mistake on anything other than my absent-mindedness. I will admit that jetlag, coupled with a nasty cold, affected me pretty badly upon my return from Japan, but by that Monday I had mostly recovered from both my sleepiness and my cold. I have no one to blame but myself.

I am disappointed that I broke the rules of the sacred blog, and I know that I must honor the rules that we set. As per the council's decision, here is my punishment, in two parts.

My punishment was to go to a public place, identify a random individual, point at them and say "Oh no! You're one of them too!" then run away quickly.

I recorded myself reading the statement earlier because I figured it would ruin the actual punishment if I announced my statement before performing my act of atonement. Honestly, I don't think the man who I shouted at even noticed I was talking to them, but you can see a couple women turn their head to look at me when I randomly broke into a sprint. I hope this suffices and I will do my best to ensure I never have to record a video like this again:

I'll also throw in a couple points from last week in this post before I make my post for this week, so it's like two posts in one day to make up for my omission last week!

Basically I'm back from Japan now! I really loved my time in Japan and I hope that I can go back someday, especially because I met a lot of really incredible people and I'd love to go back and visit my host families and some of the students I met. I also met a lot of really cool people from the US - the other group leaders - who I hope I get to meet again sometime somewhere.

Something I didn't get to eat in Japan that I really wanted to was taiyaki, so when we got back me and Naoni went to this taiyaki ice cream place in Boston. It's in a really new, very rich, yuppie neighborhood in Boston and it was pretty expensive but still good, even if it was a little messy to eat.

Also I went to a drive-in theater for the first time ever with my friend! We saw the new Toy Story (which was pretty good, but felt like a weird addition to the series in our opinions) and it was super fun. I could only stay for the first movie because I had to catch the last train home, but it made me want to become a better driver so that I can drive myself there someday and stay for the entire double feature.

Anyway, I'll end this post now and talk more in my post for this week. Hope you all enjoyed my act of public embarrassment, and I really hope this is a one-time thing. :^)
