Sorry lads, I am so tired after my first day of work today, but I really want to take some time to write about the end of my week in Georgia, so I will (really) come back to this tomorrow and write the post. Sleep tight ~
----
Okay, I'm back to update as promised. So, to start, I had a good end to my week in Georgia! As Naoni and Aboni have already attested, the week was plagued by a series of misfortunes (Aboni's phone, car windshield crack, plus booted car). I fear I may be something of a bad luck charm when it comes to travel, but I'm really grateful we were able to still make some good memories, and I hope the many omens I bring will not dissuade them for having me again in the future....
On Tuesday, I accompanied the Ros*****s on various missions. One of these missions was going to Aboni's checkup, and afterward, we stopped at the University of Georgia in Athens -- go bulldogs! In the evening, I also stopped by Naoni's job and tried some scrumptious ice cream. The ube/Hokkaido milk tea swirl was delectable. Their mom also made red velvet cake which was great too!
Wednesday had nice weather and I finally got to travel into Hotlanta. Of course, I had to snap some pics with the Coke statue and travel to the Olympic Centennial Park. Naoni was saying she was surprised that Atlanta was given the honor of hosting the 100th Olympics, but I think it is just a testament to how incredible ̶C̶o̶c̶a̶ ̶C̶o̶l̶a̶ Atlanta is. We also stopped by the CNN headquarters and saw the Cartoon Network headquarters, which are interestingly in the same building (I guess it's just one less N but I thought it was pretty random). In the afternoon, we met up with Sebastian and his bf and went to Ponce Market, this cool indoor food market and store space inside of an old Sears warehouse. I have a soft spot for converted warehouses (like Mass MoCA), and we ate at this really good Chinese restaurant. We also saw the ruins of Shaq's Krispy Kreme, so I really feel like I got the full Atlanta experience.
Someday, I want to come back to Atlanta and do all the touristy things in full (like the aquarium and the Coke factory). But all in all it was a really great trip and I'm happy I got to see my friends before they move away for a while. I was touched by how kind they were in showing me around, and their mom made a lot of Southern food for me when I was there, like BBQ, and I just feel really grateful. But it made me realize I need to step up as a host lol. Next time any of you guys visit MA, I'll give you the best baked beans and cantaloupe (deep cut there for the real fans) in the world.
This weekend, Colleen, Jude, and I went to this big mall that we've never been to to shop for our friends' wedding in a few weeks. I want to invest in a suit for the future, but it felt really silly trying on some of the men's suits in Macy's because the shoulders are so big and bulky. Thankfully, Uniqlo came through and I have a better sense of my sizes, so I think I'll be okay. I've never been to a wedding tho so I'm quite excited for the wedding next month!!
Colleen and I also went to this new Lego store in my hometown. I didn't even realize this existed but we passed it the other day and I was like. Woah. Apparently they've been there a year. It's a local independent Lego resale shop, but I knew I didn't have the funds to buy a set so I went in planning to buy some minifigures. I've been collecting some muppets figures and they had some of the blind bags there. The guy said that he could feel around in the bag and tell me which character they were so I could buy onlyl the ones I needed to work on my collection. I feel like that's not really in the spirit of blind bags but I let him do it anyway and it turned out only one of the bags contained a muppet I didn't already have, so it definitely saved me some money. He told me that they retired the minifigs recently, so I have to go to Barnes and Noble and try to complete my collection this week I think lol. I also bought some of these lego cup earrings that I thought were fun. It was a really cute shop and I'm so excited to know it exists now!!
Also this week, I finally started my internship! I haven't really done too much yet, so I don't have any sense of whether I'm any good at anything hehe but my supervisor is nice and I've been sitting in on my dad's meetings while learning more about trains. Today I learned what a pantograph is and how trains can be operated by catenaries vs third rails. I also got a train pass today, which I'm excited to give a spin. I've been really tired the past couple days because I wake up at 5:30 to drive into work with my dad, but the upshot is that I can leave around 3 P.M. I'm just hoping to go to bed earlier so I can be less sleepy.
Also, apparently Jojo Biden was in Boston yesterday to make an announcement about increasing cancer research, but I didn't see him sadly. Next time I'll deliver any messages you guys want to him tho (with a kiss)
Yeah 5:30am is too early man, 7:20am has been kicking my butt for these last couple of months. So my hats off to you bruv...also I love the earrings, I'm trying to get some cool earrings like that too
...also the horse picture is A-1
Yeeah, I am excited to visit you and explore Ma some more. I want an in depth history tour AND about how the culture of Ma has shaped and affected you.
The lego store in your town is so cute though, the little man and the earrings are cool :D
And 5:30??? Idk how you aren't dead yet, or your dad for that matter 😭 😭
