So I've been travelling for the last two weekends, and this weekend is going to be the third one, and boy am I tired. The first weekend was nice since I saw my mom. I walked a lot though, woke up early, and took the night train which makes good sleep near impossible. Then this weekend I went to see Rachel. The town was absolutely stunning, but again I feel like I walked a lot and woke up way earlier than usual (cuz I wanted to see everything lol), and now this weekend I'm going to Sisteron which is gonna be fun, but I'm gonna be leaving Veynes at 10am meaning I gotta wake up around 9am which is again too early for me. Then next weekend I'm going to Italy...at 5am! I mean, I'm complaining, but I like traveling. I just don't like to be tired T_T.
But speaking of traveling. I had a lovely weekend with Rachel. Took so many pictures! Amiens is such a cute. It didn't have all the canals like everyone made it seemed, def not the "Venice of France" and if it's similar to Venice then I'm going to be disappointed lol. But yeah, so many people and stores. On Friday, I had a nice lunch with Rachel and H at her fave bakery. Then we went window shopping which was nice (I even bought these pretty nail polish colors) and ended the night at a bar. I was harassed by this rando though and that annoyed me, but I also ate falafels and cheese fries, so it balanced out lol. I also got to meet some of H's friends/classmates, and I was impressed that I could understand them and respond (I've come to the conclusion that I can't speak French because I mentally block myself from doing so when stressed, which is all the time). And, I wanted to speak with this one Spanish girl, but the opportunity never arose, but I did get to speak to a big tiddy goth which was more exciting (lol, iykyk).
Then Saturday I got my nails painted, by the nail tech herself, Rachel Estrera. I liked how it turned out and I've been obssessed with them lol. Though it took my nails awhile to dry, I wanted to look as perfect as they did wet, so I waited EXTRA long to be sure. But in the afternoon we picked up Naoni and had lunch with an apero. It was really yummy and the best curry I've had in France ;). This day we discovered Amiens more, going to the Picardy Museum, looking at more canals, going into the Notre Dame Cathedral, and ended the night with a tasty burger. We tried to watch MegaMind, but we were wiped out and went to bed relatively early!
Sunday was the final day, and we had a delicious mango, strawberry, passion fruit smoothie! And we saw some floating garden island thingies. It was cool and calming, though I touched some stinging nettle, and it made my finger swell a little. Aside from that, we took 302 stairs up and now a tight spiraling staircase. It was tough going, but definitely worth the view and made our mini apero at the end more satisfying. And like that, I was sent away (albeit anxiously) home.
Overall a nice weekend, but then there was Tuesday, I took a train to the middle of a national forest, to a town of ~500 people. The town was stunning, a lot of nice views, but everyone knew I wasn't from around there. One creepy man kept trying to get my attention (kept honking and waving at me T_T), but everyone was staring at me as I went by, and overall I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. My phone was at 2% when the teleprompter said that my train was going to 30 minutes late. I was really stressed the whole time. I had no coat and the sun was setting (the night temps around here are like 30 still), my phone was dying, so I couldn't get help nor show the guichtier my ticket if need be, and I was starving, but everything was closed. It was a really stressful, but I got to discover a village for 3 hours, which was really the only plus.
The random town visit was stressful, I remember I was trying to help you but couldn’t really find anything that would’ve helped T-T
Cool cool cool!! I am excited for your next adventures, it’ll be all of us back together which means more fun ;)
