take it easy

[took a picture of these cute bears but we didn't stay at this cafe for dessert because the vibes were off]

This past week has been pretty calm. Work hasn't been too noteworthy, but things are going along. Some days can be overwhelming, but it's nothing too bad. I've been bad about finding motivation to do things I should outside of work, but it's okay. They'll get done!

Last weekend, I hung out with Mary, Zach, and Uncle Philip. Saturday was a day in for me, but I went downtown for dinner with Mary and Zach. Mary was getting her nails done which takes like literally the whole day. But we had yummy pizza after and some mango desserts.

[dessert with mary's fresh set. I didn't think I would like this style of soup dessert as much as I do. But I guess it makes sense. I'm a big soup fan in general (been in another soup phase recently)]

Sunday I met with Mary and Uncle Philip for brunch. It was sorta a fancy place, but I think it's worth it! Afterwards, we went to this craft fair that was going on. They had a lot of unique and fun wares, but I didn't get anything that time. I was mainly getting inspiration for my own things I suppose.

[It got cold again this week and Uncle Philip did not correctly prepare for our outing. Also these churro waffles were to die for!! (also I was really hungry)]

[at the craft fair]

[this shop had the cutest stuff there in my opinion. I sadly didn't get anything but mary got a super cute pot]

Otherwise this week I've been up to a lot of knitting. I finished a tapestry Kristiana "commissioned" me to make. It was using a technique I've been wanting to try called double knitting. This produces a fabric that is double sided basically and where the sides are negatives of each other which is really cool. It was easier than I thought it would be and I'm very happy with the final product!

[the pattern is from someone I found on instagram who has a lot of other really cool designs I want to try out. I want to eventually make my own pattern charts but starting out, it's helpful to just follow things step by step]

I haven't been thinking about it too much, but I should be excited because in 2 days I'll be freeeee. I'm taking a flight to Dallas Saturday night, and I'll be there the whole Thanksgiving week :) I've seen a lot of my family members here and there, but since I didn't go home last year, I haven't been with the whole gang since my grandma's funeral October 2020. It didn't even feel that long ago. In my mind, the whole time in France is in a way detached from my life in America. It was all very real of course, but I think it's a spatial thing. Like in a way, it feels like I just graduated and I just saw my family and we just went on the road trip and I just was working in the pie shop. Maybe it's also just a postgrad thing in general but I don't know.

Anyhow, next time you hear from me, I'll be kickin it in texas :) yeehaw

The tapestry is so cool, I love it! And tbh, I feel you on the being in France thing. Like I feel like post grad only really began after I came back to the US, living in abroad was just a little side quest life You should make uncle Phillip your little scarf thingie, he rocks it well! And Mary’s nails are so elaborate, I understand why they take all day!
