This past Saturday, this farm in Amherst has their first Strawberry Festival! I wasn't going to go at first because I didn't know anyone who may want to go. BUT, then I met up with Jackie (if you guys remember/know her, she's Lauryn's roommate) and I asked if she wanted to go. She also had some other friends, Cassandra and Chaia, who we got to come.
At the festival, they had live music, food, drinks, games, hay rides, face painting, etc. One important part was that you could pick your own strawberries from their fields. I've always wanted to pick strawberries, and I think the experience lived up to my expectations! It was a warm but breezy (on the edge of windy) day which is the best I could wish for considering the rainy days we've been having recently in Northampton. The strawberries were very warm and so sweet and delicious! Considering they grow on the ground, eating them from the plant is kind of the same as if you dropped them on the dirt and ate them anyways. But no one really cared and I have low standards anyways haha.
It was also nice because afterwards, we (me, Jackie, Chaia, and Cassandra) baked a tart with the strawberries! I think it turned out nice even though it was.... very difficult to remove from the pan....
Overall, I would recommend strawberry picking 100%!! Very fun and wholesome activity.
In other news, I'm writing this in Haymarket and am in the downstairs area. When I sat down it was pretty normal but now there's an event in full swing in this curtained off area. I don't think I have to leave, but it's definitely a different ambiance!
Also, tomorrow I'm having a lab lunch so it's just me, my advisor, and the other two girls in the lab. It should be interesting because we never really eat together, but we'll see. I feel like Adam always has the strangest/most entertaining stories so I'm sure I'll hear some of those.
update: they're talking at this event at Haymarket now and it seems to be city government related??? It's hard to tell... Oh now one guy is talking who got rid of tips at haymarket I think. i feel like I'm in the midst of a celebrity :-0
@ erin : I learned a lot about his family lolll. We talked for a good 5 min about his daughter's new boyfriends š
@ aboni: peut-etre on peut aller quand tu retournes :-)
Thank u Emma and Naoni!! <3
Tell us what life stories/wisdom Adam imparted to you guys this week š
I also really want to go strawberry picking! Anyway, that little festival sounded super cute, almost as cute as your face paint ;)
