Nothing much

It looks like it's been a slow blog week all around (ahem Naoni), so I will do an extra early post (it's 2:42am on Wednesday). I normally do it the evening/night of Wednesday, but I have some night time energy so why not. I actually slept already like 6 hours before this, so we'll call it okay. There's this historical fun fact I've seen cited a few times about how in medieval times, people would sleep in a biphasic manner. They would go to sleep, wake up in the middle of the night, do some stuff, and go back to sleep. It sounds weird because you'd have to notably use candles or whatnot, so maybe they had insomnia. That's not my case, so maybe I'm just like them. Except I have electricity..... They wake up their horses and are like, time for a midnight stroll. This is to say, I find it strange that people concerned with sleep hygiene use this as some evolutionary explanation for how messed up our sleep culture is. I mean it is messed up. But I guess no one is advocating for this method of biphasic sleep. I digress. I'm getting lost over here.

[my latest lock screen-appropriate for the winter mood]

This week has been very lowkey. I was going through my camera roll for pictures to share and realized I really don't have any since coming back from Dallas. We enter the holiday season and the holiday end of year blur. Which to me is not a bad thing! This weekend I did Nothing. Really, Nothing. I had weird sleeping schedules, and the inconsistency has continued into this week (in a good way because I was able to go to work really early these days). I've been better about cooking at home this week too.

The sun has been setting by 4pm, which I don't know how much negatively affects me per se as messes with my head. Getting an earlier start is actually nice, but it's weird leaving when it's dark and coming home when it's dark again. Welcome to the wintry season <3

Tomorrow, I'm going with Mary in the morning to a sale for Mrs. Maisel. They are ending the show, so they're selling all the set stuff. I think there could be some good stuff, so I'm glad she invited me :D It's in Brooklyn, so I'll be hopping around from here to there to work and back. Work has been good since coming back. I am less stressed (still stressed but less).

I agree with your sleep rant. Like people always act like there is a “sleep hygiene” but like is there really? I think society is trying to fit everyone into one small definition of what good sleep habits. I’ve actually tried to do what is recommended and it would always leave me sleepy and tired than when I just followed my “unhealthy” sleeping habits 😭😭. I say: if you’re sleepy, then sleep— time doesn’t matter. Plus, I find I’m more productive in the late, late night (like 9pm-3am) than I ever am during any part of the day 🤷🏾‍♀️. Anywayssss, yeah the days getting shorter always surprise me even though it has happened every year of my life 😭😂😂 I’m excited to…
