Things I'm looking forward to for senior year:
Kinda like Rachel's post, I already know this post is going to turn into things I'm excited about rather than what I'm hopeful for because in my mind they're sort of one and the same. Right now though my biggest hope for senior year is that it happens at Smith and not online. But I guess operating under the assumption that that happens, these are the things I'm excited for:
- Friends: I feel like it's been a little bit since I've seen many of my Smith peeps and I'm excited to get back to that. College is such a unique experience and I don't think I'll ever be in a position where I get to live so close to all my pals again, so I really want to make the most of it while I have it. I also want to spend time with people who I'm friends with but not as close to because chances are I probably won't see them again after graduation.
On a similar note, I'm excited to be in Capen next year. Room draw (and registration) really made it feel like we're going back in the fall and I'm looking forward to my new room. It's not very big but it has two windows!! I'm also excited for house traditions and for meeting the new first years. I still feel like I just got to Smith, so it will be strange to be seen as a senior but it'll cool to welcome new people into the house.
- Small adventures: I want to do more things in Noho next year. I feel like there are so many fun little stores and food places and cafes. And some of my favorite times are when I end up going on spontaneous bubble tea runs or when we do stuff like drag bingo. At the end of last semester, I remember Anna and I drove to the Pie Bar one morning and that ended up being such a nice day. Alsooo, I planned on getting my ear pierced in Denmark but with everything that happened I never did so I've decided that I'll probably get one in Noho. I think I want to get a rook piercing.
I thought I had a lot more to talk about but I guess not. I'm sort of looking forward to class, especially if they're not online, but my schedule changes like everyday so.
Other tidbits from the week:
I watched Knives Out the other day with my parents. It's this cute whodunnit movie about the death of a very rich crime novelist. The movie focuses on the Thrombey's, the dead man's family, and his nurse as they are now all murder suspects. It's a fun drama/comedy that wraps up really nicely. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending and I definitely recommend it.
The other day, I went for a walk with my mom and brother. In front of this house that we walked passed, they had a bunch of these painted rocks with inspirational sayings on them. Here were some of my favs:
what a cute concept hehe, i wonder if the people with the rocks started it (it sounds like no??) and if not, who did? It's always nice to have a point of positivity in your meanderings
I also look forward to all of these types of things! There are some big things to look forward to but honestly most of these I don't care for too much (like graduation, ivy day, convocation).... Maybe when it comes to actually pass I'll be more hyped up, but even for my high school graduation I wasn't a huge fan, I think it has to do with me not liking to be the center of attention...
Anyways, yes, the little moments are much more…
Omg i want the rook piercing too! But yeah I’m hoping classes will be at Smith because this online situation isn’t working tbh. And yeah the small things are always the biggest things you remember imo.
I will go with you to get your ear pierced if you want a buddy! I can't wait to have more adventures with you... its crazy that we are already gonna be seniors... i feel like a sophmore at best
The rocks are so cute! And like you, I hope Smith happens on campus since then will be are last opportunity to live in such a unique space where friends are so close. Wait and we shall receive, I guess
