I know Naoni posted a similar post, but I made this post a week ago so you're gonna have to deal with the repetition. Multiple perspectives are important though! So last week I went to North Georgia, which is an area that is distinctly country and white and about an hour and a half from where I live.
My friends and I went to Kroger and bought some snacks, allowing me to get some Kombucha because I am addicted to it for some reason. Once we had the snacks our journey begun. The ride felt like it took forever, but my friends and the music made it bearable. We listened to the necessities like The Neighbourhood, Nothing But Thieves and Ariana Grande.
I know you may be wondering why did we chose to walk up a random waterfall in the middle of nowhere, but it is actually the tallest waterfall in Georgia. It is 729 feet tall and the park is 829 acres large with wild turkeys, boar, geese, and yes black bears. We had a plan on what to do just in case a bear came which was everyone else raised their arms to look bigger while I ran away. Luckily no bears were seen.
Once we arrived we started up the mountain. It was a gruesome walk. I tripped on so many tree roots, I was slapped by so many leaves, and I walked into so many spiderwebs. But obviously that was the worst part of the walk. I had fun goofing around with my friends and speaking to the people who passed by.
This is part of the waterfall where we saw two elderly women walking on the rocks even though there was a sign about 100 feet away that said to stay on the path as fatalities have occurred from people not following this rule, but that was none of my business. Anyway, they seemed to be nice and said my friends and I had a lot of energy because we were young ignoring the sweat pouring down our faces. But we continued on up. As we continued walking up the more humid it became, but the better the views became. I have some awesome photos of the Appalachian mountains and since we were in the blue ridge mountain region they look characteristically blue. The reason why the blue ridge mountains look so blue is because there are so many trees. Trees as you know release oxygen and oxygen scatters blue light thus the mountains looks blue.
But this view came from halfway up the waterfall we still had more height to climb. From the halfway point there was 425 stairs to climb. Slowly, but surely we made it to the top. And we were ecstatic. We enjoyed the scenery and then proceeded to take some timed photos, as one does on top of a waterfall. With all of this fun I forgot to get a picture of the waterfall from the top, but I do have the image stuck in my mind and I am okay with that.
Anyway aside from the nice day trip last week. I have been hanging out with friends and family. I have gone to the park and mall, stressed about being a physics teacher assistant, jammed out to my favorite songs on my record player (it has been so long :,)), hung out with my niblings, self-care, and just taking time to recap my hectic semester and sophomore year. Crazy that I am going to be a Junior even though I feel like I just entered college yesterday...
Suggestions by Aboni:
Food/Drinks: If you're looking for a little bit of alcohol and you're under 21 look no further than kombucha. Just kidding but seriously this drink is so good. It's vinegary but sweet. And did I mention it's caffeinated! So it's like a healthy alternative to coffee.
Songs: If your looking for a good song listen to IDK by the Neighbourhood and Alone by Jesse Rutherford. It sums up my feeling towards this past year and more specifically this past month.
Pour one out for those two ladies 😮
I don't think I've ever been to a water fall :-o this sounded like such a fun day!! glad to hear you have another drink other than polar to be obsessed with
