Work has been pretty good this week. I've still been training the new guy which mainly involves me explaining what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Which involves me explaining often what email I'm sending at the moment and why. Really exciting! No but I think it will make both of our lives much more reasonable to have two people on this job. I know the new guy and this other newish girl (she's doing a research post bac thing) are also applying for medical school. They make me feel better because even though we're working at this fancy place, they also haven't taken the MCAT and don't seem really strict about it. Unless they're just hiding it lol. Also they don't have many clinical hours either.... for the girlies out there on this path, it's ok! We're all in the same boat!
This past Friday was ya boi Aaron's 14th bday. Also to those people who always gets us confused for some reason even though Simon is 21 and Aaron is 14... Aaron is the one with the bleached hair. Get it right! I also recognize the comment from last week that made the correct distinction. I've been educating my family on twincism so you guys should educate yourself on whatever kind of discrimination this is haha
Anyways, we went to this diner that we've been to already a few times (which is a lot considering we've only been in New York about a month). We also went there yesterday since my mom was leaving today. But yeah, for Aaron's bday we went there. We hadn't seen them much before since Simon and my mom had covid....
[special birthday strawberry shake]
On the weekend, I hung out a lot with Kenzie. Saturday we went to this museum called Fotografiska. It's a photography museum and they had some cool exhibits but honestly overpriced all things considered. Like if it was free I would be like totally worth it. Maybe $5-10 even. But for students it was $16!! I still use my Smith card shhhhh. We also got shake shack and I have to say it was quite delicious.
[fotografiska: to get an idea of the kind of museum it was, with an adult ticket they were offering a free glass of "bubbly" lol]
[parallel I just found btwn the lego, crocs, and fotografiska exhibit lady, it's giving ~freedom~]
Sunday, we went to a museum nearby called the Met Cloisters. It's basically a collection of Medieval stuff belonging to the Met and they made this building that looks like old cloisters but is actually not that old (I want to say early 21st century). They had some cool art. My favorite things are the tapestries and pottery. My mom also came and I think she really enjoyed it. The city is stressful, but I can tell she enjoys it here.
[met cloisters, i liked all the unicorns]
Other than all of that, I've continued working on my room. My desk space feels very cozy and like myself, so I'm happy with how it's coming along. There seems to always be more to do, but hey, it's been less than a month.
My mom left today, so I'm on my own now. Just kidding, I'll always have Uncle Philip and Mary. But my mom did so much to help me get set up here, so I was really lucky.
I've been neglecting my hobbies, namely reading :( But I've been better about cooking for myself at least. You know how it goes, it's give and take with time. There are lots of things I want/need to do (sign up for volunteering, taking a pottery class, etc etc) and I think I can do it.... just takes time. That's all I got for now!
[I'm sure you can't tell the dishes I made from the restaurant food XD]
And I think a little someone needs to brush up on their E****** knowledge 👀💁🏾♀️ (ngl tho, I’m still trying to unlearn my face-name switch up with your sisters 😭😭. Everytime I see your sister’s post I always am like “it’s not that name, it’s this name” 💀. )
I read this last week and forgot to respond 😭😭 I love all the good pics, they look so delicious!!! Keep ‘em coming :) I’m your mama-sitas is leaving, but at least y’all spent all this time thus far together and helped make your transition to the city easier. Imma miss seeing her on here tho :( Lol not $16 on a mediocre museum. Did you try using your Smith ID? I’m glad you still enjoyed it And l love the desk decor, I wanna full apartment tour, or at least a room tour ;)) I love how you’re a maximist, but how do you collect all that stuff to fill up the space????
ooo fun times!! happy belated bday aaron :') and ive always wondered about the met cloisters i didn't realize it was medieval stuff :0
the desk space looks very rachel i like it -- i peep those sonny angels tho
Lol I hate being called out like this. In any case :p, you look like you're eating good...but what did I expect when you're living in NYC. And I do feel better knowing not everyone is stressed about taking the MCAT. High-key I hope when I come back from the PC that medical schools will finally make it outdated and I won't have to take it 😆
