Floating Along

Updated: Jun 10, 2020

My week has gone by pretty fast and all the days are starting to blur together. In the summer this always seems to happen. In some ways it's nice because it makes me feel like I'm just floating along and letting the current take me. But sometimes I get scared that summer will keep going without me. I think what I'm in need of is some routine. I've been trying to make my own but my circadian rhythm is not having it. I guess that's okay though because on Monday I start orientation training for my new job, so I'll have to wake up earlier than I have been. It's weird, usually when I do something new I get nervous beforehand but that hasn't happened yet. Instead, I feel oddly ready...maybe this is a sign of growth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

On Tuesday, Elijah and I went to the Great Lawn and had a picnic. The weather was nice and it was cool to see other people out and about. I kept seeing posters everywhere for Shakespeare in the Park which is a tradition in the city. I've never been to a performance before but I think I'm gonna try to go to one this summer.

Other than that I haven't done too much. I've been making salsa and watching a lot of YouTube. I came across this video called "Hiding Mini Babies Around School" by Jordan Cunningham. It has 3 million views so you guys might have seen it already but I'll link it anyways. It's kind of long but essentially it's this college kid and his two friends going around campus and hiding tiny, plastic babies that they ordered off of Amazon. There's also a follow up video explaining how his school reacted. It made me laugh, and I think it might have been the reason mini babies were popping up in the house towards the end of this semester.

@Rachel E True it is hard to maintain. I was using the recipe for the pico de Gallo they serve at Chipotle:

1 1/2 c Roma tomatoes, chopped 1/2 c cilantro, chopped 2 1/2 Tbls jalapeno pepper, finely diced (leave seeds in if you want spicier salsa) 1/2 red onion, finely diced 1/2 Tbls Kosher salt 2 Tbls fresh lime juice

But I didn't have jalapeños or lime juice so I just substituted them with what I had which was a green bell pepper and rice wine vinegar (because it's a acidic like lime juice)
