First Time in Asia

I still can't believe that I'm in Asia, not gonna lie. Everything is going by way too fast to even comprehend. Literally last week I was stressing about packing and having everything I need, and today I'm stressing about learning Khmer, which I must humbly brag that I'm really good at. My teacher is really impressed by my pronunciation, and I have to admit it has to be due to me studying French for so long. I learned how to hone in on my listening skills so more or less I can imitate sounds if I see it written (though Chinese and Korean is near impossible for me to pronounce well no matter how many times I hear it). When we are studying my biggest issue is memorization, I've never good at it and the American education has definitely moved away from rote learning, so that's my biggest disadvantage, as well as the IPA. But I told my teacher that I'm dyslexic, and she's been pretty patient, and we vibe well, imo. She laughs at my mistakes and always says good job when I do something right. Any who, I'm surprised that I vibe really well with everyone. It's so easy to start a conversation with literally everyone, like I have social-anxiety, but I've only had one panic attack. I'm really impressed and surprised by it all! I'm hopeful that these next two years are gonna be good, and at the very least an adventure of a lifetime. Here are some pics of me readjusting (and dying due to this 12-hour timezone difference). Enjoy!

*Last time in Georgia, and hanging out with the cool kids

*My time in San Francisco, tried some authentic Californian fish tacos

*Arriving in Phnom Penh

(This cool guy that went to UMass Amherst and graduated this year, so maybe we crossed paths, but he's super chaotic and funny...he got convinced to jump into the pool even though he didn't have a bathing suit. I want to grow up to be like Will lol)

Oh, and as a timeline, I've gone from ATL --> SFO, then SFO--> TEI, then TEI--> PHM...then we drove 30 minutes outside the city, and we are just chilling and learning in this hotel. Next week I'll be somewhere else, I'll keep y'all updated.

Get into It

I've been back now for a minute and things are more or less back to normal. I went to Siem Reap to get Mexican food for lunch and went...

Duuuude I thought I commented on this too, but I’m glad everything is going relatively smoothly! I’m really happy that you are getting along with everyone, I feel like that’s the most important part of being away :D What would you rate the tacos out of 10?
