This week has been a bit intense since I'm really close to being done with my final projects. Thankfully I still am in touch enough with the world to remember to post! I was worried if I'd have it in me to write something, but thankfully this week's prompt (favorite characters) seems pretty light and fun :)
Looking at Erin and Naoni's choices I think I remembered some so sorry if there are some repeats (but I'm only really writing for characters I truly felt very passionate for).
Kiki - Kiki's Delivery Service
This movie is very dear to me as many of you many know. I think when I was 13, (which is how old Kiki is) I really resonated with the character and her struggles. When I moved, I felt really isolated and since Kiki was settling in a new city, I related in a new way. Much of Kiki's internal struggle comes when she's lost her spark and her inspiration. Now, that's how I feel sometimes. Like I'm not doing things for the same reason or with the same intensity. Kiki is resolved and strong-willed but careful and humble. She can be naïve but she learns and grows throughout her time away. I aspire to be like her and see glimpses of myself in her at the same time.
Artemis - Greek mythology in general but also PJ ;)
When reading Percy Jackson, I was especially interested in Artemis. The goddess of the moon?! Who travels around with a group of cool girls :-0 also the whole eternal maiden thing was cool to me. Idk if you guys remember this, but thinking of PJ I also remembered another character I really liked. Hestia??? Another cool gal, but I won't say why (spoilers!)
Toph - Avatar: The Last Airbender
Hmmm I'm noticing a pattern in characters I like. But I like Toph more for her stubborn side if anything. She's also obviously a really talented earth bender.
Rodrick Heffley - Diary of a Wimpy Kid
I know Erin said Jo March is the blueprint..... but come on, Rodrick. You can't deny this one.

BMO - Adventure Time
idk if any of you have seen all seasons of Adventure Time. If the feeling ever strikes, I'd highly recommend it. In the later seasons, the ideas can get really existential and philosophical. BMO is always a cute and funny character. Super loveable! I do think BMO has complexity that no one knows except BMO. For this, I'm a huge fan.
This doesn't have to do with characters but I wanted to add that I just made this for a class, and I wanted to share it! (Not sure if putting it here like this works though......). Anyways, after this week I should be done with school, so I'm ready for that!
@naoni whoops I see now on mobile it didn’t go through at all, but If you’re on desktop then I put a pdf of the zine project I made more my class! It’s about dreams/dreaming :-) @aboni omg love this analogy ❤️😂 nice analysis B) I didn’t know you watched adventure time! I want to rewatch it all soon
Hestia!!!! I only vaguely remember her from PJ but in middle school we learned about her and I remember thinking that she's so underrated. she's clearly the glue of the gods and goddesses.
that Rodrick vid was funny. you're right even in the books he's an edgy eboy.
can't wait to read your zine!
BMO is so cute!! And yeah the existential crises in Adventure Time really made me start questioning things I was ready for lol. I like your list. They say your favorite characters says something about you and all the characters really have a piece of you in it. Like white being broken down into the visible light spectrum. Toph is your rough, abrasive, and aries side of you. While KiKi shows your determination and creativity. And Rodrick is the sex appeal in you ;p
Wait at the end you said you “wanted to add that”. What is the “that”? I liked the inserted Rodrick compilation, it was glorious. Anyway, I like your explanation of Kiki and why you like her so much. Like Kiki and a lot of your other fav characters, they are driven and talented like you are :) (Also, I like the BMO shoutout. I forgot about that little guy: he is so cute!)
