It's been a week since my last day of work and I couldn't be happier. On Friday, after my last day, I took a bus to Boston to visit my friend Isabella. She's doing a co-op program at her university so she's been living in a school apartment. I haven't seen her in about a year and a half, which felt long considering we used to see each other everyday. But it's funny how time has this quality of being fast and slow at the same time because while it was happening it didn't really feel like anything. It just felt like we were simultaneously living our lives, but you forget how much happens while you're out doing whatever you're supposed to be doing. Like you forget how much people grow until you meet up and then suddenly everything feels like it's changed at once when it hasn't–you've just missed out on the process.
I felt this a lot throughout this trip. Not in a bad way, though. Just in a "wow can you believe we're actually adults" kind of way. Anyways, after we both mulled over this feeling we decided we would spend our weekend walking around Boston. We went to Boston Common, and the North End, and a couple of other places that I forget the name of. At Boston Common they had these really big bushes that I'm a big fan of.
And some Swan Boats.
We even got to see a swan fly at a swan boat. They're pretty aggressive creatures...it's kinda scary.
On our way to the North End, we saw a lot of street performers. This one group decided to pick on one of their audience members and they put a cone on his head. I thought he would take it off but he wore it for most of the performance. What a trooper.
When we got to the North End we got on these giant swing seats! Isabella was so happy because she's never been on one even though she's lived in Boston for a while.
Then, we went to a pasta place for dinner and Mike's Pastries for dessert. Apparently, Mike's Pastries is a pretty popular place. And it seemed like it because when we got there the line was out the door. They sell lots of baked goods there, but I think people mainly go there for the cannolis. I forgot that Smith only ever has mini cannolis, so when I got mine I was like wow this is such a big cannoli.
On Wednesday, I went to this showcase for the organization I worked for this summer. There were a lot of different camps at the showcase and one was giving out produce they grew in their garden, so I took these things called lemon cucumbers and an egg. I don't know why I thought this egg would be different from the eggs you buy in a store because they're all chicken eggs, but I ended up carrying it all the way home on the subway.
And then yesterday, I went to the city to hang out with Clara. We spent most of the day by the Hudson River, which had a lot of geese by it. Also scary creatures.
That’s so cool that you got to explore Boston. It’s such a cool, pretty city. Also... Mama Clara!!!
Carrying the egg all the way home... that’s dedication and it’s inspiring I like how the guy kept the cone on his head and woohoo!! Clara!!
Boston common looks so pretty. I'm used to it's ugly winter look lol, and how has Isabella never been on a swing chair XD
