Arrivals and isolations

This week has already been better than the last, and I'm feeling a bit better about the move and my new job and everything. It was quite overwhelming to get into everything and I felt like everyday I was expected to know things I didn't know yet. But you learn as you go and the pressure has made me quicker at things than if my hand was held the whole time. I do like this job and I'm happy to be in the city :) When autumn weather comes it will be even better! Because the heat is difficult (mainly in my commute because the actual lab is nice and cold).

In other news: my roommate, Kenzie, arrived last week! Her mom stayed for a few days and helped her get setup. She doesn't start classes until September though, so these days she can just get things sorted out, which I think is a good move.

[new character alert! We got these yummy taiyaki ice creams, I love these things!! Also to catch up the viewers back home, Kenzie and I were actually in kindergarten together! We've been friends since, and in high school before I moved to Idaho, we even played marimba together]

[this couch was an absolute headache to get here. we bought it from a posting and my mom was able to check in person before purchase that everything seemed clean (the seller was indeed keeping a clean and tidy operation). But we hired a taskrabbit to move and ultimately it got done and for a reasonable price. But the coordinating was so annoying and difficult with the seller and confusion with the movers. Then when Kenzie and I actually had to put it back together, it was a *struggle*, but we got it!]

[current state of my desk...]

In other, other news..... my mom got Covid :(. We don't know where she got it, but Simon just tested positive as well yesterday. So pretty sure he got it from her. I was really worried because I had been around them, but so far I've been testing negative. They feel okay in terms of symptoms, especially with antivirals. But Simon and Aaron were supposed to fly back to Idaho today, and they were about to go anyways but Mary and I advised against...

[haters will say it was faked]

[my family and I having fun before the news hit..... Kenzie and I went to the Met with Aaron and Simon. I guess he would have been contagious at that point but the masks helped I guess. The funny pigs and frog-like ceramics were at a flea market.]

[cardigan progress! you can see the shape now. Since I'm still new to knitting clothes, even for me, it's fun to see the piece transform as you continue. Gotta trust the process! Also don't mind the bellybutton please]

Wait Aboni said that’s Simon, but isn’t that Aaron?? But in either case, I can’t believe you have a e-boy brother, how does it feel? Im glad you got a couch! It looks cozy, are you guys gonna buy pillows for it? And the cardigan looks so good, and I love the belly button it made my toes curl😻. I’m still waiting for my crop top tho ;P And I second Aboni, you can’t hang out with anyone unless it’s me ;PP (no but seriously, I love seeing you taking advantage of living in such a big and fun city :))
