Appreciating Life

I felt that last week was very inspiring for me, so this week I tried to keep my eyes open for any and everything that made me feel alive. I know that may sound dramatic, but life is pretty bleak, so you have to appreciate every little thing (before the sadness starts creeping up on you lol). So starting the week I got a nice little video of my niblings trying seafood. Honestly, they always ask to go out to eat sushi with me, but I’m always hesitant because babies shouldn’t eat it. But they aren’t (unfortunately) babies anymore, thus the next time in the US I’m going to take my ‘babies’ to conveyor belt sushi. Overall, a goal of mine when I get home is to eat out less and try to learn to cook my favorite dishes. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from living in France, is that food is a source of comfort for me and one of the biggest things I miss. So ramen, Korean corn dogs, custard buns, sushi, silken tofu, oxtails, djon djon, red beans and rice, Haitian patties, Korean fried rice, and enchiladas. I want to be able to make it before I leave Georgia again. Though, I’m going to have to convince the usual suspects to do so with me, lol. Though there’s something nice about eating out, it’s definitely expensive, and I gain no cooking experience, which perpetuates the cycle of me eating out…

Anyway, during the weekend, I cleaned my room. It was nice to clean up my room, especially after feeling like I could barely get out of bed last week, so I went a little overboard and cleaned every surface and fabric in my room. Unfortunately, about halfway I got bored and tired and just wanted to shower and sleep, but I couldn’t because I don’t have a washer or dryer, so I had to begrudgingly continue cleaning. It took me around 12 hours to be done with everything, but when I showered and laid down, it was the best feeling! And on Sunday I went for a walk and took pictures of everything that I’ll miss when I leave (which is soon T_T)

(highkey this area is like landslide prone, every time I visit this river more land falls into it, and the landslide seemed to be pretty large because it's all along the river)

Oh! And I took a nap and awoke to the tree being golden, which was a first for me. Since I live in the mountains, the sun hasn’t really risen high enough to get over the ones near my house, so it was the first time I experienced golden hour while in my room. Meaning spring is near!

Then during the week, I celebrated Mardi Gras with some fish and chips. Finishing the meal with an apple flambé pie, ice cream, and a Chou crème. It was absolutely de-li-cious! The next day, I received something special from a special someone ;) and kicked off in pain. I decided to give up anime and TikTok, two major idols in my life, and honestly I didn’t know what to do with my time. Sad, I know, but I ended up listening to a bible podcast to start my day (instead of TikTok), watch one of the many suggested non-anime shows (instead of watching another anime), and read before going to bed (instead of TikTok). I feel happy that I can live slightly without my two vices, but I would be lying if I said I don’t feel a little empty, lol. I also made my first dinner since like November which I’m proud of, so congratulate me, not really (but if you wanna...). Also, on Wednesday my students bought me some of their science experiments for me to eat, and honestly I felt honored that they bought it over to me, but it looked so gross, and I ate a tiny piece of it and hated it, but my students gladly ate it, and honestly I see why people say kids don’t have taste buds because I don’t know how they were eating it.

But that was my week, and I’m so grateful and happy that it transpired this way :))

Lovely photos, especially the golden hour ones! Also, in the beginning did you mean you were inspired last week and was trying to continue being so this week, or were you uninspired last week and trying to be this week?
