I can't really remember what I've been up to besides the weekend and today, so I'll just talk about these days.
Friday
In the evening, I went with some friends to see the movie Portrait de la jeune fille en feu. Originally, we were supposed to go to a screening where one of the actresses would be there afterwards for a q+a. Butttt since I don't think, we came and it turned out to be sold out :-( . I kind of saw this coming, but somehow I still thought it would work out. However, in a way, it still did! We just found another theatre that was playing it later in the evening. Of course, the actress wasn't there, but I've been meaning to see it anyways so it was still a win. The actual film was pretty good! Historical which isn't always my thing, but it was interesting enough. We were also confused because there were no subtitles, but eventually we figured out what in the world was going on haha. The movie was a bit slow at times, but that was expected. I didn't fall asleep though which is a good sign! I give this one 6.8/10.
Malika also invited a friend she met at the Sorbonne, so that was fun because we could practice our French.
Saturday
I don't think I did that much during the day, but in the evening, I went to a couple of places. First was this place called les Grands Voisins. It's like this former hospital that's now converted to a space that's many things. Like there's a nice outdoor common space, a bar, a restaurant, a thrift store, a book store maybe, and more I think. It's open in the day and in the night, and I think with both you get different vibes. It seemed like a really nice place to just be though, so I would go back ! Afterwards we just hung out a bit and in the end went to this aquarium. It was near the Eiffel Tower and was kinda weird honestly. I thought it was just an aquarium but it turned out to be an aquarium/club?? It was free to get in though so no harm there. They had sharks and big fish but it didn't seem like there was much. In total though, I'm glad to have seen what it was all about.
Sunday
I didn't do much on Sunday besides homework. But I did start attempting to work through winter break plans. I think I'm going to travel with Malika in Italy for a week and then Kristiana and I are going to so SOMETHING (if you're reading this Kristiana, we need to figure out what that something is). Hopefully we get it together before things get really expensive :-).
Today
After class, I visited this interesting park/museum area in the 19th arrondissement. The park was really nice and the fall times are shining through. The museum was called Cité des sciences, but we didn't get to explore the actual museum really. The building was huge and there was also a book store and restaurant/bar nearby and also a mall? Idk it was a lot of things at once. And tonight I went back to this one place where they had rollerskating. Some people were dressed up in costumes since Halloween is tomorrow. At one point people were doing a conga line. Some people know some really wild moves on skates and I just want to know where I can learn that :-o. I mean it's probably just a lot of practice and falling I'm guessing, but perhaps one day I can be as cool as them!
Currently I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing for Halloween. One of my friends, Katie, is having a dinner at her house. She's pretty into Halloween so I have faith in it :-) . I'm not dressing up (sorry aboni) at least to my knowledge. Here, Halloween isn't big at all I'm pretty sure. Like there are bars that have stuff probably but overall people don't make it a big thing. Honestly I've never been a huge Halloween person in general, but I think it's a fun time. Especially in recent years I get more behind the hype and excitement of the season. Stream Over the Garden Wall!!! That's my go to halloween content. I also would like watching halloween episodes of shows like The Office. I think my fav halloween movies are Halloweentown and those other ones that would always play every year on tv :').
Have a safe and spooky halloween everyone!!
Duuuuude, are you talking about THE Kristiana!? As in the thicc mami of the century?? That would be so cool!Anyways, I believe you can do those cool skater moves with practice, you are already pretty decent at skating (also, those skates are pretty cute)!
At this rate you're going to be a skate star by the end of this year...skate kitchen part 2
I really want to Portrait of a Lady on Fire !! I really love Celine Sciamma's films (I think we've talked about Girlhood before?) there's a lot of "Oscars buzz" as they say in the "industry" so i'll be excited to talk with you about your thoughts more :00
Are you staying in Europe for all of winter break?
Tragic...
