Exploring more of Danmark

Hello all, It is I again. This week has been good to me. For my Danish class, we watched this movie about this scandalous affair that happened among the Danish royals that was based on true events. I was really surprised how good the movie was (apparently it was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign movie, but lost to Elle if I am not mistaken) the acting was good, the plot was T-H-C-C, and the cinematography was wonderful. But immediately after watching the movie, we went to the royal castle in which the movie was based on which was really an experience. Walking through the castle and being like yeah that’s where the king from the movie would’ve sat or this is the coach that the queen would’ve ridden in or the room where the royals would’ve had their dances was really cool because most of the times when I learn about history, it feels fake-- as though all historical events are just really interesting stories to hear/learn about. However, after having that experience it made me realize just how real history actually is.

I saw this place earlier, but now I know what is is: the royal danish palace, aka Christianborg

Later that day me and Emma went to Superkilen which is the cool bike lane thing that a lot of tourists go to in Copenhagen.

Then on Saturday me and few girls threw Emma a partay for her birthday.

Emma turned officially 21 in a burger joint bathroom ;)

Then Monday morning, I woke up early to take a bus to Denmark’s 2nd most populous city, Aarhus (pronounced “aRehus”).

I was speed walking to make it to my bus so didn't stop to take the pic, but this was my last view of Copenhagen for the next few days

The city is literally half the population of Copenhagen so it was quite a shock in terms of not seeing many peeps around. But being there in Aarhus was nice, we went on a walking food tour of the city.

Then today, we went to the Aros which is the Aarhus modern art museum which was very lovely both in terms of the design of the building but also in terms of all the art there.

It looks like the Guggenheim in NYC right?

Rainbow panorama
It was pretty dope up there not gonna lie-- you saw the city in different colors:)
They had an interactive gallery, I forgot what the fancy art name for it was tho :/
This exhibit, the mirror, was pretty cool too
This vs.
That (personally, I liked the dark mirror room better)
This gave me It vibes

After the museum we traveled to a city in the middle of nowhere called Skanderborg. It has a lovely lake a little German looking town farther away but other than that, it is pretty desolate.

On the way to Skanderborg

The water near the dock locked like this, weird right?
The hallway of the hotel in here, doesn't it look like the hallway in The Shining?

But yeah, that is it for me this week. Have a lovely week ladies!

The movie is called “A Royal Affair”, it’s REALLY good! I wanna watch it with my fam when we get back together again (forewarning, you need some context tho when watching it (since the movie is premised that you know Danish history (you can ask me tho and I’ll be sure to answer the best I can :D))) And round 3 and round 4 were traditional danish cuisines. But generally, I don’t think they have many restaurants that serve Danish meals because it’s simple, bland, and boring :/ as much of Danish food is based on “peasant food” (apparently the national danish meal is agreed to be potatoes, crispy pork, and parsley sauce 😔).

I feel the same way about history stuff! I always like getting to go see historical sites and stuff in person because it all feels more real for me. Send me the name of the movie I'm curious!! Don't know anything about royal Denmark.

Seems like you guys had a fun time for Emma's birthday :^)

The art museum looks so cool :0 and did you guys eat any, like, traditional Danish food on your tour, what kind of stuff is it?

And that does give The Shining vibes, spooky :0
